Two clips from the Live At Heart show in Örebro

By Mats. Posted in Gigs, News | Comments Off on Two clips from the Live At Heart show in Örebro

Thanks to all who came out to see us at Kulturhuset, Örebro at the Live At Heart festival this past weekend! We had a blast. And our good buddy Matte Holm even got two clips from the show, which we’d like to share with y’all.

First, show opener Just Ain’t Right and Yesterdays & Tomorrows (which is also featured on the CD with the new issue of Classic Rock Magazine – check it out!)

And then, Nick The Dick singin’ and playing his ass off on Out Of Here:

Backdraft plays Serie Z Festival – again!

By Mats. Posted in Gigs, News | Comments Off on Backdraft plays Serie Z Festival – again!

Backdraft are proud to return to the Serie Z Festival in Jerez de la Froñtera in Andalucia, southern Spain! We played in 2002, which was something like our Spanish breakthrough, with a few thousand die-hard rock fans attending and the event broadcast on teevee (we even held a drunken, confused press-conference, more about that further on…)

The festival takes place on October 7th-8th at Sala Pául in Jerez, and also appearing are Swedish bands like Nicke Andersson’s Imperial State Electric and Stevie Klasson’s Black Weeds, our Spanish friends ’77 and The Soulbreaker Company as well as international doom legends Pentagram and our buddy, US outlaw country singer Bob Wayne & The Outlaw Carnies. We will play on the Friday so make sure you don’t miss out!

In other gig news, these two Swedish shows have just been added:

Live at Heart festival, Saturday 7th of September at 23:00 (Kulturhuset, A-Salen)
Püssy a-go-go, Friday 14th of October at Nalen Klubb (with Dead Man)

Now then, here’s a (slightly sloshed & embarrassing) old interview and some live footage from the original Serie Z Festival back in September of 2002. Enjoy!

Backdraft interview by Decibel Magazine (US) online

Backdraft in the media this week:

Our old label-mate from Backdraft’s early days at Lunasound Recording, Kevin Stewart-Panko (who used to be in a band called Association Area), got in touch recently to do an interview for Decibel – one of the biggest metal magazines in the USandA!

Check it out! Photos by Ricky Franzén.

Follow this link to read the full interview!

“This quintet may have called Stockholm home, but they churned out the southern rock so authentically on their debut album, 2001’s Here to Save You All that you wouldn’t have been kicked out of the barn for assuming the band hailed from somewhere deep beneath the Mason-Dixon Line.

Apparently, Swedes steeped in stroking themselves silly over the sort of cultural exports comprising the recent “American Fest” held in Upplands-Väsby on the 4th of July weekend agree, as Backdraft played this fest and, more recently, at a drag racing event at the drag racing hotspot of Ljusdal.

I discovered, via the wonders of J. Bennett’s interhole, that the band have recently released a new album called This Heaven Goes to Eleven. So, I quickly tracked down bassist (and former label-mate) Mats Rydström who took time out from his busy schedule of shopping for bell-bottoms, growing his beard, driving his General Lee-painted Volvo around Stockholm and filling old-timey spittoons with tobacco spit to answer a few questions.”

Dragracing in Ljusdal today

By Mats. Posted in Gigs | Comments Off on Dragracing in Ljusdal today

Gig today, added on short notice, at a dragracing event outside of Ljusdal! We just got in the van, and don’t know too much about the details of it, but you may be able to find directions and more at

Nick just got off his night shift an hour ago, feeling a tiny bit worn out, but Jonas keeping spirits up, playing Gervais-Merchant-Pilkington podcasts.

Anyways, we’re on at around 9 pm tonight!
