Backdraft are proud to return to the Serie Z Festival in Jerez de la Froñtera in Andalucia, southern Spain! We played in 2002, which was something like our Spanish breakthrough, with a few thousand die-hard rock fans attending and the event broadcast on teevee (we even held a drunken, confused press-conference, more about that further on…)

The festival takes place on October 7th-8th at Sala Pául in Jerez, and also appearing are Swedish bands like Nicke Andersson’s Imperial State Electric and Stevie Klasson’s Black Weeds, our Spanish friends ’77 and The Soulbreaker Company as well as international doom legends Pentagram and our buddy, US outlaw country singer Bob Wayne & The Outlaw Carnies. We will play on the Friday so make sure you don’t miss out!

In other gig news, these two Swedish shows have just been added:

Live at Heart festival, Saturday 7th of September at 23:00 (Kulturhuset, A-Salen)
Püssy a-go-go, Friday 14th of October at Nalen Klubb (with Dead Man)

Now then, here’s a (slightly sloshed & embarrassing) old interview and some live footage from the original Serie Z Festival back in September of 2002. Enjoy!

Gig today, added on short notice, at a dragracing event outside of Ljusdal! We just got in the van, and don’t know too much about the details of it, but you may be able to find directions and more at drcljusdal.se.

Nick just got off his night shift an hour ago, feeling a tiny bit worn out, but Jonas keeping spirits up, playing Gervais-Merchant-Pilkington podcasts.

Anyways, we’re on at around 9 pm tonight!

Hello!

Backdraft have been added to the bill of the American Festival, in Upplands-Väsby outside of Stockholm. It’s an extended 4th of July celebration, with live bands, cars, football, food, drink all weekend. Backdraft will play Saturday the 2nd of July – time TBA! The festival is free and open from 1 PM to midnight.

This is the first full Stockholm area Backdraft gig since the release party three months ago! Check the festival website and map for directions. Pendeltåg to Upplands-Väsby is probably the most convenient way.

No excuses – be there!

We are booking some more gigs for the summer, and also rescheduling the two cancelled Ljusdal and Örebro shows as soon as possible. Soon also, some big news for Europe. Get in touch for bookings!

Here’s a review and a few pics from last week’s countrified set at Club Nuggets, Lilla Hotellbaren, Stockholm courtesy of the Tune Of The Day blawgh!

There are a few tracks probably coming up on Youtube soon – otherwise your best bet is to go to the official Backdraft Facebook page and check out our cover of Roger Miller’s Uncle Harvey’s Plane! Or do that right here…

Also, unfortunately, we have had to cancel the two upcoming shows in Örebro and Ljusdal and will try to reschedule them for late summer/early fall. Apologies to all who expected us the weekend of the 27th/28th of May! Stay tuned to this page and Facebook for all the latest news.

On a brighter note, we’re working on a week’s worth of gigs in Spain in October, possibly along with other European dates, as well as a video for the forthcoming second single from This Heaven Goes To Eleven.

Backdraft bass player Mats help run Stockholm’s only old-school country/blues/soul/roots club the second Thursday every month at Lilla Hotellbaren/Scandic Malmen at Folkkungagatan 47.

Next Thursday, the 12th of May, Backdraft will play a semi-acoustic, slightly countrified set at Club Nuggets, along with Uppsala blues man Einar (Allan Coe), who can also be found in punk rockers Obnoxious Youth and also perform under the Anal Karaktär moniker.

Club Nuggets open at 19.00, live on stage from approx 20.30, and the best bit – no cover charge! Live curfew at 22.00 so be there early! After the gigs, keep dancin’ and drinkin’ to the fabulous sounds of dj:s Veronica Mazurkiewicz and Daniel Josefsson.

You’ll find Club Nuggets on Facebook, Myspace and this old blog.
